"Aprende una nueva lengua, y obtendrás una nueva alma" (anónimo)

Un idioma es mucho más que un conjunto de palabras y estructuras gramaticales. Se trata de un estilo único de interpretar el mundo y de interactuar con los demás. Ya sea hablando otro idioma, o escuchando alguien más hablando el tuyo, regularmente es divertido enfrentar este desafío de traducir dichos, formas de pensar y opiniones en tus propias palabras. Y a la vez es emocionante cuando se consigue sentir una cultura nueva dentro de uno mismo, tan sólo por haber aprendido una nueva perspectiva de la vida... a través de otro idioma.

El idioma oficial del Perú es el Español (Castellano), pero ciertamente no es el único hablado en el país. Dentro de 33 idiomas distintos sólo en el Perú, justamente alrededor de 13 millones de personas en todo Sudamérica aún hablan el idioma del antiguo imperio Incaico. La semana pasada decidí dar un paso más en la conjunción de todas aquellas piezas de mi personalidad y decidí estudiarlo. Esto es algo que quize desde hace años, ahora he tomado el reto de producir conocimiento en Quechua.

A language is much more than a set of words and grammar structures. It is about a unique style of shaping the world and interacting with others. Whenever you speak in another language, or you hear somebody speaking yours, it is sometimes funny to face this challenge of translating sayings, mindsets, opinions with your own words. And it is also exciting when you achieve to feel a new culture inside yourself, just because you gained a different perspective of life through another language.

Peru's official language is Spanish, but it is certainly not the single one being spoken in the country. Among 33 other languages and dialects just in Peru, actually about 13 million in South America still speak the former Inka Empire's language. Last week I decided to move forward with this awesome puzzle of souls and I started learning it. This is something I was looking for since years, now I decided to take the challenge to create knowledge in Quechua.
